Friday Faves viii

1. Apple Season!

I love apples all year round but my first bite into a fall-fresh apple a few days ago almost brought tears to my eyes. So much more crisp and flavourful.

2. Icelanders’ Response to Syrian Refugees

Reportedly, many Icelanders were unimpressed with the government-imposed 50-person refugee cap and took to Facebook to make it known. More than 12 000 people responded to the group “Syria is Calling”, promoting an open-letter to the labour minister. Many of them also claimed that they would be willing to open up their homes to newcomers. More details here.

3. Living in the Same City as my Bestie

As I have probably mentioned, my close friend Chloe is quite the little globe-trotter and it’s been a few years since we’ve spent an extended period in the same city. So the fact that we’re nothing but a 45 minute commute from one another for the entire upcoming school year is feeling like a dream. I suspect she’ll be making many blog appearances!

4. “What If?” {Movie}

Ahh I foresee myself watching this at least 7 more times. (Only a slight exaggeration). It was quirky, down-to-earth and hilarious.

5. Five Things I Wish Someone Had Told me Before I Went to College

Timely and insightful.

6. Coop du Grand Orme

There is this absolute gem of a shop here in Sainte-Anne, the little town where I’m going to school. It is a combined health-food store and cafe and is run entirely by volunteers (!!). Knowing that everyone is there because they have a passion for local food and economy makes for such a great vibe. I went to some incredible coffee shops this summer but it feels so good to be back at my little oasis, studying hard and eating snacking on the best treats!

  1. I am an apple fan year round, as well, but Fall apples are THE BEST! I love your list of favorites! The Icelanders response to Syrian refugees was amazing! It is so heartwarming to hear about things like that. I have not seen that movie, but it looks like a good one. I love Daniel Radcliffe! Have a great weekend!

  2. I loved that movie! Daniel Radcliffe is such a “take home to your momma” boy.
    If I ever make my way to Canada I want to spend an afternoon in #6! Or maybe I’ll just retire nearby and volunteer my days away.
